Adam Brooks, a fourth round pick (92nd overall) has exploded in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Regina Pats. This kid has 335 points in 317 games in the WHL, a seasoned veteran playing five years of Junior hockey.

This season, collecting a casual 130 points in 66 regular season games. As bonkers as this sounds it wasn’t even enough for top scorer in the league. His teammate Sam Steel pipped him to the post with 131 points. Steel was taken by the Anaheim Ducks with the final pick of the first round. Madness all round.

Either Toronto have suddenly become very lucky or are incredibly skilled at finding players now. My bet is on the latter, all of their eggs are hatching and it’ll be interesting to see what Brooks can do. Now he certainly won’t jump straight into the Maple Leafs team out of camp, the Marlies will get ahold of him for a while. Who knows, if he continues with his progression we could very well see him get some minutes for the big club at some point.

It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a Toronto Maple Leaf fan and it will only get better with the entry-level addition of Adam Brooks.
